Police later identified the suspect as 32-year-old Jermell James White from Pulaski, Arkansas. He’s charged with six counts of burglary, theft of property and two counts of evading arrest.

The situation had people who live in the area on high alert.

“We just moved to the neighborhood from East Memphis,” Will Thornton said. “And not that there was always police sirens, but we lived right off Poplar. So there’s always activity. There’s lots of people. So, when we moved out here it was kind of eerie, just the quietness to be honest. So, when you start hearing sirens, you know something’s up.”
