The company was founded on May 6, 1986 by Ingvar Andermo, one of the early inventors of an electronic displacement measurement technology that today is used in hundreds of millions of measurement tools around the globe.

Mitutoyo Research & Development America, Inc. now develops new technologies and software across all of Mitutoyo’s product lines, including coordinate measuring machines, vision measurement systems, linear gages, calipers, micrometers, encoders, and high precision sensor systems.

Company President, Michael Nahum, Ph.D., remarked: “For almost 35 years we have worked closely with Mitutoyo to push state-of-the-art technology to its limit and to develop precision measurement solutions that delight our customers and help people lead happier, healthier, and more productive lives. Mitutoyo Research & Development America, Inc. is headquartered near Seattle, Washington and has a satellite office near Los Angeles, California.
