According to a press release published on Tuesday, the Henderson-headquartered firm has acquired 45,000 units of the Antminer S19 XP bitcoin mining machines for nearly $145 million.

With the latest purchase, CleanSpark plans to double its computing power by 6.3 EH/s in addition to the company’s current hashrate of 6.7 EH/s. The ASICs are expected to be delivered before September end, and CleanSpark plans to deploy all the machines at its mining facility in Sandersville, Georgia.

As of December 2022, CleanSpark had only 228 BTC in its holdings (down more than 95% since February 2022), according to CryptoSlate's calculations. Marathon, the largest public bitcoin mining company, held 12,232 BTC as of December last year.
